In a partnership of talent between Ethelene Owen and John Elsebusch, a beautiful mural was designed and painted at the request of the South Coast Winery. Below are pictures of the work in progress. Ethelene and John also called on the expertise in carpentry of Ethelene's husband, also named John, in helping to create a three dimensional effect in several different parts of the mural.
The first five pictures were taken on June 3, 2005. As you can see, John Elsebusch and Ethelene Owen have already gotten a good head start before these first set of pictures were taken. Here they are working on the west wall. Fortunately, neither of them had to lay on their back for any of the artwork. But, many, many hours were spent on their feet and reaching up with many more hours still to go..
Ethelene has a lot to smile about and a lot more to be proud of.
Let the pictures speak for themselves.
The painting of this mountain is located on the left corner of the east wall.
Jumping back to the west wall... this painting is where the south and west corners join. It will be one of the three dimentional sections of the artwork.
The next six pictures were taken on June 20th. Compare the detail added to the above paintings. Amazing!!
John Owen is preparing the south and west corner walls to hold one of the three dimentional pieces of artwork.
Compare this to the first picture on top. See how the detail and the added balloons make the scene come to life.
A closer look at the balloon.
The vines are so realistic I feel as if I should be watering them.
More detailed work being added..
I am planning on taking more pictures tomorrow so come back in a few more days to see more of this wonderful artwork.
The artists were not present but their talent was.
Take note of the owl that was not there in this scene directly above, right.
Smile. Someone is taking your picture.
More balloon riders.
The three dimensional piece of artwork on the south and west corner walls that John Owen was working on (see above). It is hard to make out that it is three dimensional.
The next set of pictures, below, were taken on June 28th.
The next set of pictures, below, were taken on July 8th. We tried to create a panorama of the mural on the South wall. Unfortunately, our camera does not do it justice. Below the panorama are closeups of the sections.
Now for the south and west corner walls where the three dimentional pieces of artwork have been placed. It is almost finished; one more part needs to be added. I won't say what it is to be.
The next set of photos should be the completed three dimensional mural. Come back in the next week or so to see it.
